Notes: This is a 97mm bored and Apticote 2000 plated OEM Yamaha cylinder. By keeping the bore just 2mm over stock this kit remains totally reliable and still provides a good performance improvement. It is an excellent value for the money. It is a good choice where you need to rebuild the engine and want to bump the power but only have limited funds.

At 3mm over it is starting to push the stock casting to the edge, however it remains quite reliable and we only really see issues when customers try to run stroker crankshafts with them. In other words, with a stock stroke they work well, add stroke and you will have problems. It is a good choice where you need to rebuild the engine, want to bump the power, have limited funds, and do not want to add stroke later down the road.

Notes: This is a 99mm OEM cylinder that has a forged aluminum sleeve installed it is coated with Apticote 2000. At 4mm over OEM bored cylinders have about a 20% failure rate. That is why we take the OEM cylinder and install a forged aluminum sleeve in it. The sleeve is the same material as what the pistons are made from so expansion rates are similar and the durability is exceptionally high. The water jackets are slightly smaller than stock but not significant enough to change the operating tempature of our test engines.
This kit is a good choice when you want to bump the performance of the engine but need to stay looking stock. There are no identifing marks what so ever on the outside of this cylinder that will identify it as what it truly is. It is compatable with most stroker cranks that require a stock height cylinder. The Ice Cube Cylinder is the only aftermarket cylinder available that was designed for big bore applications right from the start.
Most of the cast big bore cylinders that are out there were originally designed as stock replacement cylinders. Once the big bore movement really took off around 2005 companies decided to machine and plate them oversize to sell to the budget big bore market. Most of these cylinders have less than 1/2 of the coolant capacity of the Ice Cube. (We know because we checked them).
Water jacket capacity is not where the Ice Cube advantages stop. The Ice Cube is made from 2 extremely dense forms of aeorspace grade aluminum, billet and forged. Dense forged aluminum (the same grade as piston forgings) provides the higest level of strength and transfers heat faster than steel or even cast aluminum. These strength and heat transfer properties makes it ideal for this application where space is limited and stress is increased. The Ice Cube is also the only cylinder that has extended cylinder skirts that provide piston support at BDC for stroker cranks. This advantage alone increases piston life dramatically in stroker applications.

Notes: This kit is a real diamond in the rough. The first time we hit the track with this kit it really got our attention. It revs out super fast and pulls like a much bigger engine than what it is. It uses a +3mm Hot Rods crankshaft and a Max Power Apticote 2000 plated OEM 97mm cylinder. We highly reccomend getting the cranked balanced or your hands will fall asleep. We also provide a full botom end gasket and seal kit. It is basically a total rebuild kit less main bearings (and we can get you those also for a bit more) It comes in multiple compression ratios and uses either a CP or Wiesco piston - Your choice. If you got a tired YFZ, limited funds, and some mechnical skill, this kit is a pretty sweet deal that really does the trick.

It does not build as much torque as the 523 kit but it certainally will hold it's own against most anything out there. We do not recommend you install this kit with out balancing the crank. We have sold a few of them this way and every time the customer sends them back to get balanced. Just figure on getting it balanced up front and save yourself a load of trouble.
